An Invitation from Rev. John Zimmerman
Dear Friends in Ministry,
I want to personally invite you to Ignite! Reversing the Hinges at Corry First UMC.
I have attended all three previous Ignite events at locations ranging from the rapidly growing Crossroads UMC to Christ Church in Bethel Park to Grace UMC in the college town of Indiana. Each one truly had its transformational moments in my life and ministry .... but Corry, PA?
Corry has become known for its 25% poverty rate, manufacturing plants closing, declining population, school closings, teen pregnancy, economic, emotional and spiritual depression ... well, you get the point because chances are I am describing the
context of ministry for most of you. We are in the midst of some of the greatest challenges for local church ministry that we have ever faced.
And with these challenges, we as church leaders need to be equipped with the tools to meet the tasks. We have the unique opportunity to combine expert leadership from the UMCOM Rethink Church Team with the local leadership of Corry First UMC for a day of rethinking church that is simple, replicable and capable of being implemented in any local church context. In our denominational line of Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open Doors, the Ignite conference will challenge you to reverse the hinges of your church doors to see them open out.
Where is Corry, PA???
Google Maps can find Corry, PA!
What is more important than being located by Google Maps is the truth that God has found Corry, PA! As a local church pastor, I desired ways to ensure the doors of my churches were always open. Anyone could come in to discover a transformational love through Jesus Christ. It wasn't until my image of church doors expanded to open out, however, that I have experienced the most successful, life-changing local church ministry.
By changing our perspective on the church doors from opening in to opening OUT, we will be able to introduce Christ in the places people need to experience Him.
Are you ready to reverse the hinges on your church doors? Your GPS can get you here!
